Homophobia has a negative impact on the well-being of young people. Their mental health may suffer from this, and sometimes even their physical health. Counsellors and teachers can have a supporting influence here especially when they are aware of the health problems and contexts lesbian, gay and bisexual and migrant youths will encounter.

In this chapter you will find an overview of such problems as well as suggestions how to deal with them. Importantly, we will stress that, although there are some specific risks, lesbian, gay and bisexual young people do not always encounter health problems.
