| Background Theory The issue here In the chapters of the manual we go with some detail into several themes. That information is practical and theme-related. But when writing these chapters, we found a need to go deeper into the background theory lying behind all this. We needed a place to answer the basic questions like: what is discrimination? How does it work? What is the general idea behind combating homophobia? What is the link with racism and other forms for discrimination? What you will find In the background theory we try to answer those basic questions. We framed the answers into a coherent article, which is worth reading for anyone who doesnt only want to go "through the motions" of teaching counselling, but who wants to really get a feeling of grip and direction when working on homophobia in the multicultural context.
